Arnaldo Pomodoro
The concerns of my work as an artist have always centered on the relationship between the individual sculpture and the space in which it is sited.

A sculpture, indeed, is the realization of a space of its own within the greater space in which it lives and moves. When a work transforms the place in which it is located, it takes on the valence of a true and proper witness of the times that spawned it, and thus places a mark on its context, enriching it with additional layers of memory.

Today I think of my sculptures as crystals, or nuclei, or as eyes, or signal fires; and I see them as relating to borders and voyages, to the worlds of complexity and imagination.

Arnaldo Pomodoro. Continuità e innovazione

Pisa
, 27 June 2015 - 31 January 2016

From 27 June 2015 to 31 January 2016 in Pisa, a major exhibition of Arnaldo Pomodoro will be held, containing over one hundred works, including sculptures, projects, drawings and documents, spilling over in to other spaces: The Opera House, the Sinopia museum, the monumental cemetery, and the external spaces of the Square of Miracles. This will be an extraordinary opportunity to see some of the artist’s most important works in conversation with these wonderful, historically rich places and, in particular, with some casts by the greatest interpreters of Pisa’s mediaeval sculpture, Nicola and Giovanni Pisano.
The exhibition organised by the Opera of the Pisan Primate, was conceived and directed by the architect Alberto Bartalini and draws on a scientific committee made up of Antonio Paolucci, Gillo Dorfles and Ilario Luperini.

Arnaldo Pomodoro. Rive dei mari

Sorrento, Villa Fiorentino and town squares
22 May – 22 November 2015

The exhibition curated by Flaminio Gualdoni and Gino Fienga, includes the display of seven monumental sculptures installed in the squares of Sorrento and numerous works in bronze and fibreglass, graphics and art books, held at Villa Fiorentino, seat of the Fondazione Sorrento, and which signify important milestones of Pomodoro’s artistic research.
As Flaminio Gualdoni writes in his presentation, “It is not important for the artist to determine, a priori, the reason and nature of his mark,  by codifying it , but rather allows it to emerge in all its radiant ambiguity, like a spatial and temporal yardstick, like an indeterminate stream where, rather than its meaning, the tension at the sense’s potential, is important, whose organizational regularity is born from within, from the physical and mental step of tracing, of forming.”

FORMA, SEGNO, SPAZIO. Scritti e dichiarazioni sull’arte.

The book FORMA, SEGNO, SPAZIO has been published: a selection of the most important Arnaldo Pomodoro's writings on art, curated by Stefano Esengrini and accompanied by sketches, projects and photos. The book is edited by Maretti Editore in collaboration with Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro for the new book series "Scritti d'Artista" conceived by Concetto Pozzati under the patronage of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca in Rome.
The aim is to introduce the precious and manifold critical autonomy of the artist, through brief texts, notes, considerations on his own work and on general issues: a thought conveying  into sign, word, writing.
The book was presented in Bologna, Arte Fiera on January 25th at 4:30pm along with the books by George Griffa and Joe Tilson.
